The RPIC Tablet, being a tablet PC, has a few steps in order to set up the hardware and its accessories once received from the manufacturer.

  1. Device Location and Power On: It should be placed within reach of the RPIC and powered on via the power button on the right side of the tablet PC.

  2. Sign In: Once powered on, the PC can be signed into.

  3. Battery Level: Inspect the battery level of the device in the bottom right corner of the display. If the device battery is not sufficient for the duration of the flight operations being conducted, the device should be plugged into its charger until the level is adequate.

CAUTION: Failure to maintain the RPIC Tablet battery at adequate levels may result in loss of RPIC Tablet during flight, leading to an inability to perform emergency and/or abnormal procedures.
  1. USB Adapter: Use of the USB Type A to C adapter is required for the RPIC Tablet when using a Microsoft Surface Pro 8. The USB Type A to Type C adapter must be plugged into one of the available USB-C ports on the right side of the device, then the USB GPS Receiver must be connected to the Adapter before continuing to starting and using Auterion Mission Control. If using a Microsoft Surface Pro 7+, the adapter is not required.

  2. VPN: From the tablet’s home screen, double click the VPN client application. Ensure VPN connection is active.

  3. LTE Connectivity: Ensure that the device is connected to the internet via LTE by checking the internet connectivity UI on the bottom right corner of the display.

  4. Speaker Volume: Ensure that the device speaker volume is set to a sufficient level for the RPIC to hear audible notifications from the AMC application. It is recommended that the volume be set to maximum on the tablet to reduce the likelihood of undetected/unrecognized failure conditions by the RPIC.

CAUTION: Failure to set the tablet volume to a sufficient volume may result in decreased situational awareness causing delays in response to failure conditions requiring the performance of Abnormal or Emergency Procedures.
