Motor Start

Andi Lamprecht Andi Lamprecht ·· 1 min read· Draft

The command for starting the motors is the Start Mission command within the Uncrew GCS Mission Console. Selection of this commands the motors to begin rotating the propeller blades as well as commence the aircraft to begin the programmed mission. The Uncrew Start Mission command sends the PX4 autopilot a Takeoff command.

  1. Safety Area: Confirm that the safety area is secure with no obstructions and no persons within the area. Then, announce “Motor Start” over voice communications loudly and clearly. This is so all members of the flight crew are aware of the aircraft commencing performance of its mission.

  2. Uncrew Start Mission Command: Within the Uncrew GCS Mission Console, select “Start Mission”. The Mission Status in Uncrew transitions to “Flying”.

CAUTION: The Start Mission command will engage the aircraft motors to begin rotating, creating a hazard if persons or property (obstructions) are located within the safety area. It is imperative that the safety area be void of persons or obstructions prior to the selection of the Start Mission command.
