Minimum Specifications

Contained within this appendix is information describing the minimum specifications that must be satisfied in order for alternative associated elements to be utilized in the configuration. These minimum specifications come at the recommendation of the manufacturer. The use of alternate parts which exceed these requirements is permitted, but it is advised that the configuration of all associated elements in use with each aircraft be documented and controlled at all times by the operator.

The configuration item number of the associated element whose minimum specifications are being defined is provided in each subsection for reference.

RPIC Control Station

If an alternate desktop PC is to be utilized as the RPIC Control Station, the PC must meet, at a minimum, the following specifications:

  • CPU with 12 MB cache, 6 cores, 12 threads, 2.00 GHz base speed, 35 W

  • 8 GB of RAM, DDR4, 2666 MHz memory speed

  • 256 GB of internal storage, PCIe NVMe M.2 drive

  • Intel UHD Graphics 630

  • Five USB 3.2 Type A ports (total across front and rear panels of the PC)

  • One RJ-45 port 10/100/1000 Mbps

  • Two video out ports, either DisplayPort or HDMI ports

  • Intel® Wi-Fi 6 AX201, 2x2, 802.11ax, MU-MIMO, Bluetooth® wireless card

  • Included power supply/adapter/cord

  • Windows 10 Pro or newer

LCD Monitor Display

If an alternate monitor is to be utilized for the GCS, the monitor must meet, at a minimum, the following specifications:

  • Resolution of 1920x1080 pixels

  • 27" cross-sectional size

  • Refresh rate of 165Hz

  • Aspect ratio of 16:9

  • Non-glare display surface

  • Brightness of 400cd/㎡

  • 1ms response time

  • Flicker-free screen

  • DisplayPort 1.2 x 1 or HDMI(v1.4) x 1

  • Power Consumption of less than 40W

  • An input voltage of 100-240V, 50/60Hz

  • Tilt, swivel, and pivot movements with a height adjustment of 0 – 5.12 inches

Computer Mouse

If an alternate computer mouse is to be utilized for the GCS, the computer mouse must meet, at a minimum, the following specifications:

  • Two buttons with scroll wheel

  • Optical tracking sensor

  • Wireless bluetooth connection to USB-A dongle

  • Replaceable battery power source with minimum 12 month battery life and remaining battery indicator

  • Windows 10 and 11 compatible

  • 2.4 GHz bluetooth

Computer Keyboard

If an alternate computer keyboard is to be utilized for the GCS, then the computer keyboard must meet, at a minimum, the following specifications:

  • Full-size with 10-key number pad

  • 2.4 GHz band wireless bluetooth connection to USB-A dongle

  • Replaceable battery power source with minimum 36 month battery life and remaining battery indicator

  • 5 foot minimum range

  • Windows 10 and 11 compatible
